This thread discusses the Content article: The Jetstar Experience

Funny you should mention about Jetstar Asia, cause my mom just came back from Hong Kong on Jetstar as well. She is quite a frequent flier on Jetstar, so to her, it is no surprises. Frankly I did not find it that much cheaper than say SQ or Cathay Pacific... ok.. maybe 100 or 200 cheaper, which can probably account for some extra cash for shopping.

Recently I had the "pleasure" of taking Silkair, a subsidiary of Singapore Airline. The experience was rather similar to your. No priority check in for Kris Flyer members, no in-flight entertainment (to think I brought my B&O headset as well, thinking I could put it to good use. Instead I had to settle for silent Mr Bean on the common TV screen!)

One thing though, the meal on Silkair was rather ok. At least I managed to eat most of it.

Wonder how is the food experience on Jetstar Asia ?

I didn't want to pay $25 for the inflight meal, so I brought on board a Quarterpounder. It tasted just the same at 30,000ft as at ground level.

hehehe... they allowed you to bring food onboard ??

I remembered the last time my dad took a budget airline, I believe it was Tiger Airways, he told me that he and his golf buddies brought Wonton Noodles onboard ! They had to hide behind newspaper, one hand holding up the papers, the other hand holding the chopsticks, stuffing noodles into their mouth behind the paper screen !
